Designation: Founder and Executive Director of Ladies in Tertiary Education (LAITE)

Esther Bonyonga is a passionate women’s rights advocate, climate justice champion, and leadership development expert. She is the founder and Executive Director of Ladies in Tertiary Education (LAITE), an organization that empowers young women in tertiary institutions through mentorship, education, and advocacy for gender equality and sustainable development.

Esther currently serves as the Professional Director for the Next Generation Leadership Academy (NEGLA) and as Vice Chair of the Women Human Rights Defenders Coalition Malawi (WHRDC). She has also held significant leadership roles, including President of the Rotaract Club of Lilongwe. With a strong background in public health, human rights, and climate justice, she advocates for the integration of these issues in policy-making and social change.

Her work spans across youth empowerment, gender equality, and environmental sustainability, with a focus on creating actionable strategies for a just and sustainable future. Esther actively engages with local and international platforms to advance women’s rights and the intersectionality of human rights and climate change. Her dedication to social justice is anchored in her belief in the principle of “leaving no one behind.
